Gregory T. (Greg) Niven is a Canadian-born laser trailblazer with over 35 years of experience in the industry. His passion for lasers began in childhood and has since led him to become a driving force in the adoption of laser technology for computer-to-plate imaging, photofinishing, and direct-write PCBs in the 1990’s and early 2000’s while working at Creo and Coherent. While at Novalux/Necsel, the cinema projection efforts ramped up in 2009 with design wins in all key worldwide projector makers, the completion of laser developments and the commencement of the commercialization process. By 2014, Greg’s vision was realized with a global rollout of lasers replacing legacy lamps in cinemas. Greg has been a part of winning four Prism Awards and most recently a Technical Oscar win in February 2024. In addition to these achievements, Greg is most proud of his four adult children and lives in Silicon Valley with his wife of 30 years, where he enjoys playing ice hockey and cheering for the San Francisco 49ers!
