To reduce spatter for aluminum and copper welding, ring profile or center ring profile is effective. We have been researching deformation of laser profile using Tamron produced Axicon lens to make ring profile or center ring profile. An affordable and simple profiler is desired to check deformation profile measurement. Laser profiler using camera type is inexpensive and uses plate-type beam splitter as an attenuator. In general, beam splitters used for laser profiler processing are placed at 45 degrees. However, incident angle to the beam splitter can be different than 45 degrees. Because the beam splitter used for collimated laser has different transmittance and reflectance depending on the incident angle. The angle of incidence dependence must be considered, otherwise the profile cannot be measured accurately. Therefore, we have developed two types of reflective beam splitter attenuators that consider the dependence of beam splitter on the incident angle. The first type uses two collimated laser beam splitters arranged in V-shape. The second type uses two incidence angle low dependence beam splitters arranged orthogonally. We created a balanced ring and an unbalanced ring profile using Tamron axicon lens and measured their profiles using two types of beam splitters attenuators. Based on these, we investigated the measurement accuracy of the profiler caused by the incident angle dependence and placement of the beam splitter.
