Ultrafast lasers in the ps and fs regime are the tool of choice for applications on ceramics and glass as well as metal and composite surfaces. But applying structures on contoured surfaces demands highly articulate multi-axis systems with stable laser focus on the target. These can be realized with highest stability if the ultrashort pulses are transported through fiber. Microstructured hollow-core fibers transmit femtosecond pulses with minimal nonlinear influences and allow for stable beam parameters after several tens of meters of laser light cable. With proper beam launching the ultrafast beam delivery systems allow for highest beam quality and stability on the target. By integrating its launching optics more tightly with the laser source a highly flexible fs tool can be established, which increases user friendliness and safety. Separating the laser source from the processing optics allows for fast switching between different applications or also for safe time and energy sharing setups for USP lasers.

Technical advances on the fiber material itself allow for transmission of highest powers to enable efficient processing of large areas or even beam multiplying for parallel work.

We report on the newest developments for ultrafast fiber beam delivery, which includes higher peak power, transmission, increased stability and safety.
