Lasers are rapidly emerging as one of the most versatile and enabling technologies for space. From high-bandwidth optical communications and precision navigation to directed energy propulsion and in-space manufacturing, lasers are redefining what is possible beyond Earth. Their unique ability to deliver concentrated power and precision at distance is unlocking new capabilities for exploration, defense, and commercial applications. This plenary will highlight current advances, future opportunities, and the engineering challenges of deploying laser and their application technologies in the harsh space environment, charting a path toward their pivotal role in the space economy.
